Force in any form is violence

The psychiatric prison imprisons people without committing a crime and excuses people who might have committed a crime.

The court has the power to convict people who have committed a crime to be incarcerated in prison.

Forced drugging is legal in the psychiatric system both inside and outside psychiatric institutions. Some countries do not allow force in the community but they can forcefully drug anyone once they enter psychiatric prisons. Many people have had their homes violated in order to drag vulnerable people into psychiatric institutions against their will. People who find bio/coercive psychiatry harmful are told they lack insight while those who cause such trauma for many are convinced or convince themselves it is for their own ‘good’. Many so-called ‘mental health professionals are so blind that they cannot or won’t see the harm they cause.

Once a person is labelled by psychiatry it is very easy to be in danger of being forced treated.

Lack of true information (information should always be true) on psychotropic drugs is rampant in the psychiatric field so much so that you could ask are psychotropic drugs ever taken voluntarily? But to tie any person down with brute force while injecting them with drugs they often know will harm them is one of the most terrible crimes against humanity. These drugs can cause a chemical lobotomy with several serious adverse effects once they are in the blood system and can be very difficult to withdraw from! Inspired by all my sisters and brothers who have gone through this kind of torture in the name of ‘help’.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” C.S.Lewis

I first heard this quotation by C.S. Lewis from my friend Helena King who was incarcerated and forcefully drugged more than 70 times, the first time after having her first child. She never survived psychiatric torture and knowing her history it was the drugs that were responsible for her ending her life at the age of 63. She was a firm believer in Catholicism and her faith would not allow her to consciously take her life. She suffered the most severe adverse effects from psychotropic drugs possible for more than 3 decades. I dedicate this to her memory, everyone who lost their lives because of deceptive, coercive psychiatry and all those who continue to do so today or have ever been harmed by psychiatry.

  1. Hello Mary, I am very impressed this time by your agony when writing about the misconceptions in our community and in particular of course when speaking of our persecutors who “care” with their conscience too. The point is that I am really agonised by those in my community who keep me from doing the things I really want for them. Yes, I want to get things done in my community for my community, including those forgotten about when generally one speaks about community. The bloody Social Inclusion crowd in partnership companies who are in it to help the community, but not those who are not able to face the day because they are drugged up to the eyes. It is outside their remit, they say, and should be dealt with by psychiatry. They really have no concept of what it is like to be singled out by psychiatry for being too different and it does not enter their head to reach out to our peers in dire straits.

Now I have a plan. To overcome this issue, I came up with the idea of self-help groups. Self-help groups that function like community groups and have the same status in the eyes of those organisations that promote social inclusion. I have been speaking about this during our meetings and explained that we have made a real effort to get this format in which listening to each other is number one into the wording of some sort of group constitution which is acceptable for partnership companies. The only thing we have to do with our Zoom Group is to organise ourselves in such a way that we are willing and able to promote these local self-help groups which are working in line with MindFreedom Ireland principles and the format that I have suggested: Faith, Hope and Charity.

The faith we share is knowing where we are coming from and that even though we’ve hit rock bottom we still endorse life and are committed to fight for justice. Hope comes about when we start to attentive listen to each other with the intention to truly understand where the other is trying to convey to us. What she’s been going through and how she wishes to continue her life. We apply a candle and anyone who holds the candle may speak to her heart’s content. As the candle goes around, round after round, mutual understanding and trust will increase and our bonds of friendship will strengthen. These are also regarded as powerful ingredients for proper communication and cooperation. The more we listen to each other, the more we overcome our own isolation as it is prolonged by psychiatric industry. By sheer listening we obey to each of our need to be socially included and the need to justify the lives of others outside our group will become stronger. So, we think of doing something together in order to make this happen and this is called charity or unconditional care.

When we unconditionally care and love we are truly human as it is the highest need to be fulfilled. When we unconditionally care we put aside our own business, such as being in time for work, and get totally involved in the care of a vulnerable stranger who we happen to meet on our way. This is action straight from the heart not guided by rules or regulations. It’s like doing something out of the ordinary just because you can. It’s being yourself in its most original expressing in aid of someone worse off. This is the force of compassion, or spirit force and helps us to be uniquely ourselves at all time. Now, this spirit force works in two ways, namely that it acts in a beneficial way for those you care for and the reward is that you feel better about yourself, causing increased self-esteem.

You yourself must recognise this effect of giving yourself unconditionally for the wellbeing of one of our peers. I understand you too do feel the beneficial effects that charity has on your own well-being. Charity has become my driving force, ever since I pledged to give myself for the rest of my life for those who are worse off than I am. It changed me considerably as first I was a deep thinker and now, I am definitely a doer in the Name of God. I hope this will ring a bell with you and that together we will be able to convey this Christian message in words that appeal to non-believers as well.
