Electroshock can cause cerebral brain damage and should not be viewed as ‘therapy’.
Many more women are at risk of receiving it in every country where it is common practice, especially elderly women.
I had 15 bilateral ECTs against my will in 1964 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota when I was 17. That was torture, not treatment.
Yes, electroshock is torture and should have no place in a just, caring society. You were too young to have experienced this, and no one should experience it at any age. Even young children are not safe. As a group, we do all we can to stop it, especially as most people are so ignorant that they still think it is not practised.
